Whether from a position of authority, as a member of a team, or as an individual who wants to help the people around them do their best work, Lead From Wherever You Are is a framework for thinking about the aptitudes, competencies, and skills anyone can learn to inspire confidence and act in ways that build trust.
There are four dimensions to the framework – and this is roughly how the modules in this course are laid out:
We start with Maximize Your Wiring, a process to name and define the values, attributes, and skills that drive you and how you show up when interacting with others.
Next, Connect With People starts with the premise that humans are hard-wired to thrive in groups. In this section, we explore ways to amplify the essential, brain-based, and improvable skills that allow you to communicate with the people you interact with.
During the Expand Your Thinking module, we’ll dive into the art and science of making good decisions, how to balance both the emotional and logical data in every situation, and look at different ways to discern your best role (and response) to inspire action.
Speaking of which, the fourth module, Spark Action, starts with a unique approach to arguably the two most fundamental leadership skills: giving feedback and coaching. To get there, we’ll explore the neuroscience of how people change their habits and ways of thinking; we’ll practice tools for discerning your best role in influencing change in others; and practice tools to ensure that everyone has a shared definition of what success looks like – and how we’ll know when we get there.
Lead From Wherever You Are is the culmination of several years of research and practice while developing and facilitating leadership programs with organizations ranging from huge corporations to small non-profits. The biggest thing I’ve learned is that it’s not rocket science! Frankly, some of what we’ll talk about is not even new. I have not invented the Next Amazing Magic Wand for Leadership.
